This was a quick explainer/informational animation I made to experiment with some new techniques and UI animation in After Effects. All of the textures for the planets were taken from high-res planet scans or abstract paint textures, and modified in After Effects to fit with the CC Sphere effect. The UI elements were created in Adobe Illustrator, and then animated in After Effects.

All of the planets in this system are fake, but the information and names used were created based on planet appearances, and in turn, makeup, from planets in real life and science fiction. The names were also created based on the current naming system for most cosmic bodies, which involves naming based on ancient dieties from different cultures.
