CWMD Holiday Collab Animation
This animation was made as part of a collaborative animation for the Chicago Women in Motion Design group, to be posted on their socials as a holiday card in 2023. The task was to complete a 5 second looping holiday-themed animation following specific sizing and color requirements to be part of a larger, cohesive video combining all of the participants' animations. Aside from this, the prompt for the project was very open ended, which allowed for a lot of fun experimentation and playing with different styles!
For this, I chose to make a simple 3D Christmas tree model with some simple gifts, and give it a flatter, 2D looking texture, before combining it with 2D background assets and animation in Adobe After Effects. The 3D textures were made to be subtly cel-shaded and appear more toon-like. This was overlaid with a more glassy texture, so the tree felt almost toy-like and a bit like a decoration you could find in a shop.
The final animation was composited in Adobe After Effects, with assets made in Cinema 4D, Redshift, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop. The background animation for the snowy windows and cat was made in Adobe After Effects.
