As part of their MinExpo 2024 celebrations, Caterpillar organized a social get-together on the first night of the expo at the Omnia, a nightclub and event-hosting space in Las Vegas. This project came with two primary challenges: scheduling and implementation. The location for this event wasn't finalized until 3 days before the event itself, which meant we only had 2 days to create the graphics for the main room, with one day for the Omnia's AV team to test it and ensure it all worked well.
The secondary challenge was technical due to screen resolution - the Omnia's main room has over 20 screens of unusual sizing, with multiple screens being an extension of each other and forming a loop around the entire room. Other screens were stacked, forming a tiered effect above the bar. Conscious, informed application of our graphics was key to ensure that the screens flowed into each other, and weren't clashing or overly jarring.
For ease of implementation, Becky Krohe, our graphic designer and I settled upon using existing stock ambient footage that fit Caterpillar's branding colors, adding the Caterpillar logo and assets on top of them to welcome the team from Caterpillar to the club. We aimed for primarily black and gold colors that weren't overly bright, to maintain a classy, glitzy club feel that was overall relaxing, adding to the atmosphere of the location as a laid back, social event.
