'Return on Interns' was a video created during my time at AbelsonTaylor, which I made in collaboration with our Art Director and Copy interns, Eva Topelewski and Laura Pomilia. The goal of this project was to make an introductory 'meet the interns' video to present to the entire company at their yearly summer presentation. As AbelsonTaylor is a large company of 300+ employees, with a majority of them being remote workers, the company's executives wanted an opportunity for the rest of the company to properly get to know their summer interns.
This was created separately from the standard new hire video - this project was entirely designed and led by the interns, and we aimed to emphasize each intern and give them a bit of an opportunity to shine, and let the rest of the company know who we were. The theme we wound up landing on was one I pitched, which was creating the video in the style of a Wes Anderson video. Eva Topelewski, Laura Pomilia, and myself spent and extensive time researching and collaborating on the style of Wes Anderson's films, and decided to focus on showing the random quirks of each intern, in true Wes Anderson style.
All of the in-office videos were shot by myself, with the out-of-office shots made by individual interns under strict direction from the production team. The voiceover was generously done by Steve Holtzman, one of our copywriters. Aside from that, all video editing, audio editing, color grading, and motion graphics were created by myself.
The video was a rousing success at the summer presentation, with many employees saying it was the highlight of the entire presentation! This is easily one of my favorite video projects to have directed and created, and shows that creativity and passion can abound in any agency setting.
